La Tierrosa Cave - Discover one of the subterranean caves of the Santiago, N. L. mountain range.
To get to this horizontal cave, we will leave the camping ground walking in the mountains for about 15 minutes until we arrive at a cave that is found in a nearby hill. But first, we must be sure to have necessary equipment like flashlights, helmets, neoprene suits and life jackets. We slowly move further and further into the cave where we have a chance to see the natural rock formations as well as the flora and fauna native to this spot.
During our trip through the cave, we will find ourselves in a narrow pass about one meter in diameter that we will have to go through by dropping into a subterranean river of crystal clear waters with a weak current where no sunlight can enter. We will walk and swim across the river with our flashlights on, marveling at the rock formations that lead us to the end of the cave. Here we find a vault in absolute darkness, full of shapes sculpted out of the rock by water that has filtered through.
